Leaving the States...

If you're visiting this page, it's likely you've heard about our planned trip to Nicaragua in the summer of 2010. So, we thought we'd take a moment to share with you how we came to this decision and what we hope to accomplish while we're there.

In December of 2009 we began reading a book together called
"The Hole in our Gospel" by Richard Stearns. As we read this book we became increasingly challenged by the message to serve the poor and needy. Both of us felt a stirring in our hearts that must be reckoned with. We had unanswered questions of when, where, how, and who to serve, until we heard about the opportunity to serve in Nicaragua with our church.

We will be joining a team of 30 in July 2010 to serve, love, and fellowship with the Nicaraguans. Some trip objectives include:

  • Children's ministry: VBS
  • Outreach: vitamins, dental health, clothing, shoes, books, etc
  • Technology: computers, internet connection
  • Crafts: blankets, gardening, baking
  • Building Projects: houses and preschool building
  • Sports: baseball, soccer, kickball
If you're still reading this blog, we would also like to take a moment to share how you can support us in this mission trip:
  1. Prayer - We fully believe in the power of prayer! We would appreciate prayers for safety, for spiritual impact, and lasting relationships.
  2. Donations - We will be packing suitcases full of vitamins, dental care, and kids shoes. If you would like to participate through giving, please let us know.
  3. Financially - We are responsible to raise $2200 for this trip. Any monetary donation will be a tremendous help for us, so we can fulfill our desire to serve.
Thanks for your interest in our lives and supporting a growing passion in our hearts!

Brandon & Hannah

  2. Tomorrow is our last day stateside....we are SOOO ready for this trip! We were blessed in raising 100% of our funds for the trip (Thanks to everyone)!! Final head count is 31 people going from our church and we're taking a ton of supplies. We got all of our shots a few weeks ago and are on Malaria meds now. We're packing our final things and hitting the airport at 4:30a.m on Thursday! Its surprisingly not too bad of a flight, we should be in Managua by 11:30a.m. on Thursday. Hasta Luego!
